All results relate to Clay Pigeon Shoots held at Sutton Gun Club in Middleton near Sutton Coldfield and Birmingham on the borders of West Midland, Staffs and Warwickshire. (Shotgun shooting at its best)

The Sutton Gun Club Cowley Cup Shoot was won by John Parry with a score of 66 + 10 handicap for a total of 76. It was a very warm day which brought out many more shooters than of recent times. This made for a competitive competition with John holding the other shooters off. Once again some interesting and testing setups made for a good sporting shoot. Well done John.

The KINGSBURY ENGINEERING BIRMINGHAM LTD Sponsored Shoot was won by John Parry. with a score of 70 + 11 handicap for a total of 81. Their was a good turnout for this interesting shoot. The weather did not know what it wanted to do but the shooters did, they wanted good scores and that's what many got, so well done to all those who hit 60 or more. And in particular well done John.
PS If you look carefully John has got his eye's closed. It was suggested that this was his secret weapon in hitting so many clays.

The Contractors Sporting Trophy Shoot was won by Mick Jackson with a score of 62 + 10 handicap for a total of 72. It was an interesting and testing sporting shoot which took place on a very warm day. Mick managed to hit 6 more clays than the next best shooter which was quite an achievement. Well done Mick.

The Nick DeBore Sponsored Shoot was won by Mick Jackson who won with a score of 55 plus handicap of 10 for a total of 65. A combination of poor weather and the Villa/City derby made for a poor turn out. However those that attended were rewarded with an excellent sporting setup that provided many different and challenging birds. Well done Mick.

The Club Competition High Gun Prize of 250 cartridges was won by Mike Smith. with a score of 67 + 11 handicap for a total of 78. It turned out to be a good morning and surprisingly warm with the rain holding off. A good many shooters had scores of 60+ before handicap, so well done to all those who hit 60 or more. And in particular well done Mike Smith.

The Stuart Thompson Sponsored Shoot was won by Mike Davies who won with the High Gun score of 64 this was 3 clear clays ahead of the 2nd place which went to Nick Baines. This shoot had some interesting combinations of birds and made for a very good sporting competition. Well done Mike.

The Graham Pell Memorial Shield Shoot was won by Pierre Kaminski with a score of 55 + 16 handicap for a total of 71. It was a very windy day which provided some extremely variable birds. Well done Pierre.

The KLM Sponsored Shoot was won by Gina Left. with a score of 61 + 17 handicap for a total of 78, Stuart Thompson hit 64 but with a 10 habdicap was 4 off the pace. There were 2 more prizes. Richard Turner won the "true handicap"; i.e. double the handicap of 28 = 56 + score 39 for a total of 95 Larry Dewsbury won the "most likely to improve" prize. Well done Gina, Richard and Larry.

The Harry Hugget Trophy Shoot was won by Kris Bache with a score of 61, and when added to his handicap of 10 gave a great score of 71. Not only did Kris win last week but he won this Trophy last year as well. Well done Kris.

The Club Competition Shoot with a Prize of 250 cartridges was won by Kris Bache with a score of 62 + handicap of 10 for a total of 72. It was a close shoot with Ken Pritchard 2nd also scoring 72 after handicap. The count back rule was used to determine the winner. Ken said afterwards, "John Parry talked me out of a dropping clay saying it should be hit on the rise and I duly missed and lost the competition", Please don't yawn. Well done Kris.

The Linklander Trophy Shoot was won by Jason Grant with a score of 68 + handicap of 8 for a total of 76. This shoot took place on a cold but sunny day. It was a close shoot with Nick DeBore also scoring 68 after handicap. The count back rule was used to determine the winner and it showed that Jason had a period where he hit 49 on the trot. This was an interesting sporting competition. Well done Jason.

The Most Improved Shooter Trophy was won by Greg Hope. Greg has been shooting for less than a year and is regularly out shooting others with similar or more experience and shows great promise for the future. Well done Greg.

The Winston Chambers Sponsored Shoot was won by Nick Baines with a score of 62 + 12 handicap for a total of 74, in what was a very competitive shoot. with Les Barratt on 61 + 13 handicap also on 74 who came 2nd after the count back rule was used to decide position. Third prize went to Scott Bayliss, and the shooter with most potential to improve went to Charles Shepherd. This sporting clay pigeon shoot had some very interesting birds. Well Done Nick.

The Farmers Trophy (G J Cox) Shoot was won by Bob Mason won with a score of 51 + handicap of 12 for a total of 63. This shoot took place on a day that was bitterly cold and very windy. The birds were being blown in all directions, and most shooters hit far fewer than they normally would. So scoring 51 was an achievement indeed. This turned out to be the most challenging sporting competition we have had for a long time. Well done Bob.

The Butchers Trophy Shoot was won by Mike Vann who won with a score of 50 + handicap of 24 for a total of 74. This shoot had some very interesting combinations of birds and made for a good sporting competition. The day was one of the best for some time, with a clear sky and warmer than of recent times. This no doubt contributed to the good turn out. Well done Mike.

The Chairman's Trophy shoot was won by Alan Shelley who won with 57 + handicap of 13 for a total of 70, 2nd was Paul Fletcher also with 70 after handicap. The count back rule was used to decide position. The wind made for a very interesting shoot with the birds doing their best to dodge your shot. This made for an excellent sporting competition. Well done Alan.

Norman Dudley Memorial Trophy was won by Andy Russell with a score of 56 + 14 handicap for a total of 70, in what was a testing shoot. Andy was unable to stay for the presentation of the trophy, which was made by Norman Dudley's daughter, to Ken Ratcliffe who stood in for Andy. This sporting clay pigeon shoot had some very interesting birds. Well Done Andy.

The Christmas Shoot - Sponsored by Accident Express Ltd was won by Kevin Pope who won with 63 + handicap of 8 for a total of 71, 2nd was Dave Beckett also with 71 after handicap and 3rd was Adrian Pope on 71 after handicap. The countback rule was used to decide position. This shoot had some very interesting birds and made for an excellent sporting competition on a very cold day. Well done Kevin.

The E & S W Knowles Shield was won by Dave Tidman, with a score of 60 plus his handicap of 14 to give a total of 74. Kevin Pope was 2nd on 62 plus his handicap of 8 for a total of 70. This was a tough shoot with some difficult clays making these scores all the harder to achieve. Well done Dave.

The Collier sponsored shoot was held at Sutton Gun Club and won by Nick DeBoer Who hit 64 + 13 handicap which gave him 77 along with 2nd and 3rd who also got 77 including handicap, positions were all decided on the count back rule, after what was a very close shoot. 2nd prize went to Kris Bache and 3rd went to Alex Gobran . The prizes were presented by Alan Shelley a committee member and given by Mike Smith for Colliers.
The Side By Side Silver Salver competition was won by Murray Smith with a fine score of 52 + 15 Handicap for a total of 67. The sporting clay pigeon shoot was held on a wet and windy morning, but this did not stop a large turnout. Well done Nick and Murray.

John Parry with a score of 127 + 11 handicap for a total of 138, which was well ahead of the rest of the field. This sporting clay pigeon shoot was spread over two 75 bird shoots, with some interesting birds. Well Done John.

The Machine Fabrications Sponsored Shoot was won by Jack Pope who won by just one clay after handicap from Tim Smith. This was a very close competition and the result is even more astounding as both Jack and Tim are a couple of our youngest shooters. Well done Jack.

While the Side by Side Silver Salver was won by Nick De Bore with a score of 46 plus his handicap of 13 to give a total of 59. The morning was bright and the rain stayed away, this made sure we had a good mornings clay shooting. Well done Mike and Nick.

The Beaucrest Ltd/Waterman Environmental Services sponsored shoot was held at Sutton Gun Club and won by Kevin Pope for those with handicaps, with a great score of 67 + 7 handicap for a total of 76. Ray Harknett came first for those without handicap with a very creditable 52. 2nd prize went to Keith Stubbington with 57 + 13 handicap, 3rd went to Stuart Thompson with 58 + 12 handicap. 4th went to Les Barratt with 61 + 9. These shooters were closely followed by Keith Green with 53 + 16 all of whom got prizes. The prizes were presented by Alan Shelley a committee member. 2nd 3rd and 4th positions were all decided on the count back rule as they all tied on 70 including handicap. The sporting clay pigeon shoot was held on a bright and sunny morning. Well done Kevin, Ray, Keith, Stuart, Les and Keith.

The Club Competition High Gun Prize of 250 cartridges was won by Adrian Pope. The morning was very bright and sunny, which made sure we had a good turnout and enjoyed a good mornings clay shooting. With a score of 64 Adrian was a clear winner, Well done Adrian.

The Henry Hill Challenge Cup was presented by Mrs. Hill to Mike Jackson who won with a score of 62 which along with his handicap gave a great score of 74. This was matched by Paul Fletcher who lost on count back. These scores were achieved despite a morning of heavy rain. Well done Mike.

Dave scored a very impressive 63, and when added to his handicap gave a great score of 75. The prizes were presented by the shoot sponsor Bob Left. The day was very windy making it a difficult shoot.
